No problem prompt service
Oddly found it hard to get find croquet sets on the website. However once I found it progress throuhg the pages was problem free and the new croquet set arrived sooner than the three days promised. The set looks beautiful and everything was in good condition. Thgis is the second time I have bought from Jaques and I would have no hestitation in reccomending it to others.

High standard produce as usual
Excellent produce which is as you would expect from jacques. May be seen as expensive but what you get is long lasting quality.

Prompt delivery to France
My order (croquet set) was out of stock. I received an e mail saying that I could receive another similar croquet set without extra coast; and that they will sent me the bag when It will be available. The croquet set arrived 6 days later in France. Good quality; excellent customer service

Product great but website tracking didnt work
Ordered product and received it promptly. Only problem was that I couldn't track the order on the website. When I tried the website didn't even recognise my email address.

perfect gift for Croquet enthusiast
Set arrived extremely well packaged, very quick delivery, was kept informed of delivery date and slot etc. Beautiful set, ordered for my Dad's 60th birthday and I'm sure he will be thrilled with it. The box is sturdy but nicely finished, the set is perfect for what we intend to use it for ( fun bumpy lawn/field games with family although I am sure the set is meant for much better lawns!!!). Highly recommended

I bought from a trusted name but it didn't meet the expectation.
The game is alright but minimum standard and no where near my expectation or value for money. The delivery was very quick and efficient.

First class: Superb equipment matched by a superb approach to customer care..
Jaques provided an excellent croquet set that will last years. The quality of the equipment is superb , of extremely high quality from the cast iron hoops and hoop drill, through to the wooden box for the game equipment and notably the workmanship of the extremely well made croquet mallets. The balls are of high quality and are provided in a canvas carrying bag, for ease of transport and for protection when storing. This excellent equipment is backed up by a very effective and efficient customer care service, that quickly resolved issues, with missing items from the original order (bags for the balls and hoops) and slight damage on two hoops and a mallet , which were replaced the following day without any problem. There was even the bonus of sending four mallet covers as an apology that the set was not perfect when first sent out.
First Class equipment and first class customer service...

Prompt delivery of excellent quality purchase
I bought a set of Lewis chess pieces and was delighted with the detailed reproduction of the originals,( some of which we saw in the British Museum the day before). Visually exciting and easy to use, each piece packed in tissue paper and carefully boxed. Well done Jaques!

Originally my order was out of stock. Later, I received an Email to notify me that my order was now available. i reordered and requested normal free delivery. I received the large parcel within three days of the order. Many, many thanks.

Best choice I ever made
This is the first review I have ever been inclined to give for a service from any company I have dealt with in the past, but I have just enjoyed the best sales and service from Jaques of London, who went out of their way to provide me with replacement chess pieces for a very old set that had been damaged, and did so without charge (how refreshing is that) I also purchased a new chess set the quality of which is excellent. The delivery service was also first class. Many thanks.

Something was missing!
I bought a shove ha'penny board which came very quickly. Unfortunately, the ha'pennies that were advertised to be included were missing. I wrote requesting they be sent to me but have had no response from the company yet.

Excellent customer service
I recently ordered a chess board, chess set and draught set for my husband. We have previously purchased outdoor games from Jaques and were pleased with the quality. On examination of the recent purchases the chess board had not quite been finished properly on one edge - I rang customer service and they immediately arranged to send a replacement, they asked me to examine this and when we were happy to ring them and they would arrange collection of the original board. Yes, it would have been perfect if the initial board was OK but in life sometimes things go wrong and it is how people deal with things that get remembered. I would certainly buy more products from Jaques - quality and customer service is excellent!!

Excellent service and a brillant responce with superb quality goods
I know you and I both like the Jaques games and think they have excellent quality but a little bit expensive hence we've not really bought that much from them.
Just after Christmas I was in Fryers in Knutsford and I was looking round their sale goods and I noticed a chess set reduced to approx £50 from £100. As my nine year old grand-daughter has asked me to teach her chess. Well, because of the grand-daughter I bought it.
When I unwrapped it I was really surprised at the quality of the box, board and chess pieces. I decided to complete the set by buying a draught set as the grand-son is a bit younger. I saw the Jaques one at £20 but with the P&P added it seemed expensive but I decided to order and then discovered that I could get P&P FOC if I was not in a rush which pleased me.
I was very surprised that the set arrived two days later.
I'm happy and I hope Jaques are.

The service could not have been improved in any way.
The item arrived the day after I had placed the order , which I thought was outstanding.To avoid any damage , the backgammon set had been very carefully packaged.
I wouldn't hesitate to order from this company again .

"Check Mate As Far As I'm Concerned"

I purchased a chess set from Jaques of London - this was my first purchase from them and I was very impressed with the delivery time. I had tried various web sites on e-bay etc but happened to hear about Jaques on TV. I found their website, which I thought was very straight forward, and saw what I was looking for straight away and at a reasonable price. There was one minor defect in the product but Jaques did notify me about this in the delivery note which I accepted - I have rated Jaques with 5 stars even with the very minor defect - but this has not stopped me in my enjoyment of using the item.
I am going to put Jaques of London on my "Purchase from Again" folder and hope to purchase a more expensive set next time.

Tops on Efficiency and quality !!
I ordered a clock golf set for a Christmas present. I was rather late , as I had been so busy at work. Jaques tracked my order, and the goods arrived promptly... taking any stress out of my Christmas shopping. A fantastic service !
The quality of the goods is also excellent. I would recommend the company to anyone.

Incomplete product
I ordered a set of 'Tiddly Winks in a Wooden Box', and only the wooden box arrived - with neither the tiddly winks nor the wooden catching pot.
However, when I called Jaques to point this out, the service over the telephone was very good, and I expect to receive the missing goods imminently. I would still not hesitate to recommend them as a company, but it is nonetheless a shame for such a basic error to have taken place.

Games to amuse all the family
Prompt dispatch of two bagatelle and one football games. Excellent offer 3 for 2. Both families loved their gifts and have had lots of fun with them. Both games can be played by adults and children of all ages and really bring out the competitive spirit particularly, when he seven year old beats older siblings and adults. The quality of the boards is excellent and I have no doubt they will become heirlooms. We gave the bagatelle boards to the two fathers and would expect that one day they will be playing with their grandchildren. All in all, amongst our best and most appreciated present choices!

Quality bridge set
I ordered a bridge set for my mother for Christmas. Even though I ordered the set late in the day it arrived the next day and was a high quality set. Would highly recommend this site and will use again.

late delivery / one missing black pawn / very nice pieces
The delivery to France took a very long time, since it was a Christmas present, it missed the cut, which is sad.
Add to this that one black pawn was missing with the set. I did contact Jaques today, waiting for them to send this missing piece.
This being said, the set is very nice.
Update on January 17th : I did receive the missing pawn two days ago. Set now complete.

nice product (lousy service) now great service
I ordered a chess set a couple or weeks before Christmas. The courier company had such problems trying to deliver that we ended up going to collect. I then discovered that Jaques had completely garbled the delivery address on the package, despite having my correct address on the invoice. I tried to contact them twice on their customer feedback e-mail address, only to have my e-mail bounced back both times. I also wrote to complain and ask for an explanation via their website but have had no reply. Fortunately i am happy with the chess set - but their customer service appears to be spectacularly poor.
Revised on 26 Jan: Jaques got in touch with me after seeing this and Lisa Howard has been very generous in making amends for my poor experience so I would now say their service is excellent but they were let down by their web site e-mail link over Christmas

Disappointment,as product found broken inside two unbroken boxes so Christmas present for children unable to be given.
How disappointing to receive broken toy specially paid for to be delivered by Christmas. Two boxes housing toy unmarked but internal box and toy both damaged which would suggest toy already damaged when packed. Offices shut by time delivered so not able to get replacement.

Nobody answered my phone call at 5pm on December 19th.
Very mediocre service for a very high price.
I could not get a delivery organised for between Christmas ann New Year. It is like the old days before the intrernet forced retailers to offer decent service.

This company has stood the test of time, excellent service.
Needed to find an interesting present for my husband and only a few days to go before Christmas. No problem my order was processed and arrived within 48 hours. Amazing!! Also an added bonus was that the literature enclosed describing jaques history brought back happy memories of the happy family card game I played as a child. I still have the pack of cards but sadly it is incomplete.

Very swift delivery and well packed.
Bagatelle was a delight. The only reservation is we are afraid the pull will break, and occasionally a ball becomes lodged between the pull and the side of the run, and then does not run when pulled. It is easily dislodged by a small finger pushed into the side. Otherwise exactly as we expected, a handsome game.
